London = Posh Spice.
As in Victoria Beckham… plus a smile (once in a while).
Thinking back to my first experience in London, the people I spoke to upon arrival at my hostel were nice! Boisterous, busy, but helpful when asked. Once I dropped off my things and began wandering the city, I could experience the intensely ambivalent ambience of the London Streets.
It’s a beautiful city – lovely old streets with colorful shops and a variety of delicious food. The pedestrians? I can’t think of a better word to describe them than “posh.” The Londoners I ran into were styled – in the I-spent-3-hours-trying-to-look-like-I-just-woke-up kind of styled. Everyone looked like they walked out of Vogue or a weird electro-pop video. Even people who were together seemed like they were strutting their own stuff, oblivious to their companion. It was an interesting sight, and certainly a fashionable one, but also kind of ridiculous.
What’s been your experience with London? I’ll be going back there again towards the end of my travels. Maybe I’ll get a completely different impression!
